Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion Review | The Best Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin

The Best Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin | Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion Review

Hi loves!

You are probably here today because you are curious on what an actually good sunscreen is for your face, am I right? Back in the day when I was living in Canada, finding the best sunscreen for face was next to impossible. Generally sunscreen was only an additional benefit of some moisturizers and only had spf 15 or 30 max. An as someone with sensitive and acne prone skin, these generally would break me out. on top of which, spf 15-30 is useless if you are going to be outside all day. You need at least spf 40 to last you the morning on the amount of time you will be out and about walking.

So today, I will be sharing my personal review on the NEW Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion Review, which I feel is one of the best sunscreen for sensitive skin! Let’s hope into it!

Do I need to Use Sunscreen Daily?

YES! A million times yes! As I mentioned about, in north american/western brands, many of the products that contain spf only contain small amounts such as spf 15-30 which is fairly useless. If you want any type so of protection that will last, you need spf 40-50. This will give you 4-5 hours of sun protection, which is generally enough the last you the amount of time you will be walking outside.

Which is why you need to apply the proper base spf as a skincare step as makeup and moisturizers don’t provide enough in most situations. Applying the best sunscreen daily will protect your skin from UV rays and free radicals which cause pre-mature skin aging! So if you want to avoid getting wrinkles and fine line in your mid-late 20’s then start applying that spf everyday you walk out the front door!

Now onto the review!

Product Claims

Let’s take a look into why the new Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion is likely the best sunscreen for us:

  • Maintains moist and clear skin
  • Provides heat protection (reduce skin redness)
  • Soothes damaged skin from dryness and previous sun exposure
  • The natural blue/lavender tone creates a brightening and illuminating effect
  • Provide moisture and hydration without stickiness
  • SPF 40 PA++

Those are some pretty good claims for those of sun with sensitive and acne prone skin! Everything we want, sun protection, redness reducing, brightening and no stickiness!

Ingredients

Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butylene Glycol, Titanium Dioxide, Glycerin, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Niacinamide, Polysorbate 60, Zinc Oxide, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Chlorphenesin, Xanthan Gum, Arginine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Betaine, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Lactobacillus Ferment, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Fragrance, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Guaiazulene, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Lecithin, Acetyl Glutamine, SH-Oligopeptide- 1, SH-Oligopeptide- 2, SH-Polypeptide-1, SH-Polypeptide- 9, SH-Polypeptide- 11, Bacillus/Soybean/Folic Acid Ferment Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol

I have coloured the ingredients that are most beneficial for their skincare benefits above. There are a lot in here that I personally like such a Niacinamide which is great for brightening, fading marks and even helping some acne.

Packaging and Texture

The Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion comes in a very easy to squeeze light blue gradation tube. With a small opening for the product to come out of, which as I noticed, allows for a very easy to control distribution of the product. Making it easy to get a little bit or get a lot out depending on how much you need. Personally, I find the packaging could have used a bit of a darker colour for the font as it seems a bit washed out and hard to read for those with weak eyes. However this is not a problem for me.

The sunscreen has a very whipped like texture similar to that of a heavy mayo. So if you like mayo, then you know what I am talking about! It glides over the skin very easily and absorbs at a decent rate, not too fast and not too slow. I also noticed that it has a very pleasant cooling sensation and wet feeling upon application. You literally can feel the water being drawn to your skin!

Application and Results

When applied to the face, the Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion glides on very smoothly and easily. However it does create a brightening effect on the skin. Which is something it stated in the product claims as this is due to the natural blue/lavender colour of the lotion as well as from some of the physical sun protection within the lotion. The brightening effect is similar to that of a illuminating & colour correcting primer once makeup is applied over top, it looks very natural and lovely. That being said, makeup applies very nicely over this sunscreen! Making it a great primer.

However due to the presence of physical sun protection ingredients, I did notice that this sunscreen can very mildly cling to dry flaking skin. Only skin that is flaking through. However it is easily gone once makeup is applied over top.

The Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion also is one I like to use at my day lotion! Meaning I don’t feel any need to use any regular day cream/lotion before using this sunscreen! I can use this sunscreen alone as my day cream! It is lightweight enough for summer, and it doesn’t leave a sticky feeling but still feels very hydrating. Just enough moisture for the summer.

Acne wise, this sunscreen did NOT break me out! It didn’t cause me any skin irritation either after wearing it for 8+ hours under my makeup! I now have been using it daily as my new best sunscreen whenever I go out!

Overall I am absolutely in love with the Klairs Mid-Day Blue Sun Lotion. When I heard they were making a sunscreen, I had high hopes and good faith it would be very good and it certainly didn’t let me down! It was everything I was hoping for from a dual physical/chemical based sunscreen for sensitive and acne prone skin!

This certainly has become a holy grail best sunscreen for me and has even replaced my love for the COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream!
