Acne is very difficult to deal with, I know this on a very personal level. I personally had almost flawless skin while I was a teenager. As soon as I became an adult I started to get acne on my cheeks. I would get deep under the skin pimples * Papules * that would hurt and leave my skin looking bruised, sore and scared. I have never been someone who wore face makeup. In fact, I would only wear powders to even my skin tone and control oils throughout the day.

Once I got acne, I was embarrassed to be seen in public without makeup. Just wearing powder was not enough to hide my acne covered skin. I started wearing concealers and foundation during my days to hide my acne. Of course, these products worked amazing to hide my acne, but my skin felt terrible. My face would feel itchy, greasy and as if it had a mask over it. I knew all the makeup artist secrets on how to cover acne. But I felt these professional ways on how to cover acne were only good for photography since they required layers upon layers of this makeup.

Thick layers of makeup was not the ideal way on how to cover acne on a daily basis.

The skin is not designed to be able to handle that much makeup without getting irritated and creating new clogged pores.

I had about a 2 year time span after my round of accutane where my skin was flawless. Up until this year, my skin has slowly getting worse and worse. Now, since I have moved to South Korea, my skin is back to being filled with acne.

So, here is my way on how to cover acne without wearing a lot of makeup.

Over the past 2 years, I have become a serious skincare addict. I am all about products that will create flawless perfect skin so that there is no need for skin makeup. However sometimes, acne can not be cured on the surface, the real cause is internal. Meaning acne topicals, cleansers and acne moisturizers wont work.

So how to I cover this annoying acne? Watch quick video makeup tutorial bellow to see every step I take on how to cover acne with very little makeup!

In this video
I only used very small amount of makeup.

The key to hiding acne is that you want to look as if you have are wearing now makeup at all. This is why spot covering is important. You acne is only on certain areas while other parts of your skin are perfect and flawless. You want to keep those perfect areas looking as natural as possible while only treating the spot areas to match that perfect skin.

You could, only use just powder to cover your acne, but your skin will still look uneven, the spot covering will be visible and obvious. This is why it still is important to overall even out the skin tone with a very thin layer of foundation, bb cream or cc cream. The most important thing is to make sure your layers are very thin and use as little of product as possible.

This technique and use of certain products allows your skin to still breathe since no heavy products were used.

An important note! Make sure your skin is primed with a good moisturizer before you apply the makeup. The mineral powder will have an extremely buildable coverage if your skin is well hydrated and primed first.

Hello! I am also going through acne problem only on my cheeks. I always used foundation or concealer to hide it. I really find your way of covering acne new and efficient. But.. I don’t know ways to get Physicians formula mineral powder in South Korea. Do you know any substitute product that I can buy in Korea?
And… I can totally understand you because I also had perfect skin throughout teenager then coming to Korea, acne started. (I am Korean but lived in Bangladesh for my whole life) I also went to dermatologist but when I quit consuming drugs, acne appeared again. I quitted eating any food containing ‘flour’ but it wasn’t efficient. My sister told me about quitting dairy products recently.. I am trying on that from last week. Hope it works like it did on you! Your videos and posts helped and encouraged me a lot. Thank you so much for your help. Hope you leave Korea after 1 year with good memories. Take care!

Hi, you can use any mineral powder foundation. Since my acne is cured, I have not needed to do this routine in a long time. However if you go to any department store such as shinsegae or AK you can find high end brand that carry mineral powder foundation. If you can find a counter for MAC, Makeupforever or even bare minerals it would be great!
Please do consider an overall healthier life style. No dairy is a big one especially since most people are lactose intolerance. Acne on the cheeks is commonly related to colon issues. Try drink only almond milk (can be bought at emart) and try our aloe vera juice(the supplement type, not the convenience store type), this can also be bought at emart and it great for helping the colon, detoxifying and reduces inflammation. I also drink teas that help cleanse the body. I used YourTea.com Skin magic to aid in my acne curing (review coming soon). However if your acne is only on the chin, it mostly is hormonal and you should consider teas that balance hormones and also birth control to balance hormones.

Hi! I’m 13 years old and have more acne than most of my peers. I watched your video and it was pretty helpful! I live in America and am just wondering how to find the mineral powder in a store here. Also I was wondering how natural the product is. I hardly ever wear makeup but if I’m going to cover up my acne (which I want to do) I want it to be natural and not harm my skin. One more thing, do I need to use a brush to blend it? Can I just use my finger?
Thank you!! I hope you’re having a great day.
