Ramen, Ramen, ラーメン!

Iphoto drastically slows down my computer, like… ridiculously. Do anyone else have this problem? It is annoying! Anyways! Today I took the boyfee kyle out to Toronto to get some “authentic” style Ramen! It was kind of a belated birthday treat because on his actually birth I was way too poor to afford to do anything for him or get him anything 🙁 So now that I had enough money saved up I decided on a nice trip into Toronto! Why Ramen? Because you honestly can’t get ramen anywhere close to where we live other then in Toronto which is almost an hours drive away! Super annoying that if you want ramen you have to travel for it. Like people gotta spread out!

So Kyle and I both have never had “real” ramen before! In my opinion, ramen you get at an all you can eat sushi bar is not even close, it doesn’t even come close to instant ramen! It is just weird lame plain tasting noodle, just horrible!

So we went to a lovely little Ramen bar in the heart of downtown Toronto called Kenzo Ramen. I chose this place honestly, because it was the closest one begin almost an hours drive 😛

*photo from Internet sorry*
We went to Kenzo on Dundas which was awesome! Such a cute simple little place to eat! And the price was amazing! Kyle and I ate at about 4pm and it cost only $23 for two massive bowls of fancy ramen plus green teas! 😀 Awesome pricing! Sorry I didn’t take my own photo because it honestly was a cold and kind of rainy day so I just wanted to get inside and have a nice hot bowl of ramen and tea 🙂

*I look so tired… :(*
Camwhore shot before I went to pick up kyle for his surprise day! I didn’t tell him where we were going until we were almost there 🙂 Yay!

As soon as our food was served to us the Toronto zombie walk came out of no where! We had no idea it was today so it was quite the surprise to suddenly hear creepy zombie sounds and see a heard of people in zombie makeup walking all down dundas street! It was quite the view to watch while eating a bowl of ramen hahahaha! I would have gone out and taken picture if my food wasn’t already at my table 😛

More zombies! It went on for about 30 minutes 🙂

I got the Sapporo Miso Ramen 🙂 With pork! It was sooo good! The bowl was so massive that I couldn’t even finish half of it! And I didn’t eat all day so I would be hungry enough! Even though I was starving I still could only eat half 🙁 Such a fail! I’m like the classic girl that barely eats it would seem! But I ate till I was so full it hurt!

Kyle’s Ramen! He got the….. I can’t remember… Hot Netsu Ramen I think! But it was a little spicey! But it also was sooooo good! Of course we shared each others dishes hahaha! I’m not a big fan of spicey but this was the perfect spice level for me if I’m willing to have spice 🙂

Then I took funny picture of kyle having his first bite! Yay! No photos of me though. I need to get kyle to take more photos of me 😛 See how big the bowl is! So awesome! Kyle loved this place so much that he is going to bring his brother here for his birthday. I’m so happy I was able to surprise Kyle so well and that he loved it!
Usually Kyle is the one to take me to places for my birthday instead of gifts and I give gifts and cards. But I wanted to plan something for once. I was super nervous because I am not very good at planning or going somewhere far-ish on impulse because I feel things always go wrong when I do. But this time it was a huge success! Had some issues with horrible traffic on the way there but Toronto is always like that it would seem!
After we ate we went for a little walk down dundas to see what other restaurants they had and there are so many places we wanna try! Especially Korean BBQ! 😀

We walked down to the Eaton Center and it was a mad house…. Like a pure mad house. It wasn’t even enjoyable because the crowds were ridiculously massive and pushy. You basically had to push your way through the mall. And it was hot and sweaty. Like honestly you would have thought it was Boxing Day. I don’t know if it is always like that on a Saturday at 5:30pm but if it is then that is just stupid. Not a good time. I just wanted to get out of there!

The drive home was super efficient and fast!
And that is mine and Kyles first ramen experience!
Have you had real traditional ramen before? How was your experience? 🙂
